Alien Slime Lab by Thames and Kosmos combines real science and playful science fiction to ignite an interest in chemistry. As lead scientist, it’s your job to identify UFOs — Unidentified Funky Oozes! Set up and use your lab station to mix up batches of unidentified “alien” slime and conduct tests on them to analyse and investigate their special properties. The manual details 4 assignments comprising a total of 10 experiments. The full colour step by step instructions are both pictorial and written and encourage a child to work methodically and follow instructions.

The kit comes with all the tools needed to set forth on your alien slime research mission. Use the syringe to conduct viscosity tests, roll the slime with a roller, and dissect it with tweezers and a plastic scalpel. Cut a brain shape out of the slime, stamp it with an alien head, and add eyes to it! Explore your slimes’ make-up and properties — such as their different colours, glittery components, and glowing and colour-changing effects — and then use your findings to correctly identify the different slimes. Real science and playful science fiction come together in this wacky, activity-filled kit! A superb kit to ignite an interest in chemistry. Age 8 – 12 years

Thames and Kosmos was founded in 2001 with the mission of improving informal science education outside of the classroom by publishing high-quality science kits for children of all ages. They place an emphasis on teaching concepts and skills through tactile processes. Their vision is to give all children access to real, physical activities and projects that teach them about how things work; parents, grandparents, and teachers are active guides in these investigations. It is their firm belief that children who connect with the world around them grow up to be inquisitive adults, creative thinkers, and engaged citizens with confidence to careers in science, technology, and engineering.
